What We Do

Regulate and control the operation of betting, gaming and the conduct of lotteries in Jamaica;

Grant permits, licences and approvals to persons or entities considered fit and proper to conduct betting, gaming and lottery activities;

Examine, in consultation with such organisations and persons as it considers appropriate, problems relating to the operation of betting, gaming and lotteries;

Conduct investigations, studies and surveys for the purpose of obtaining information for use in the exercise of its functions;

Provide information and advice to the Minister of Finance and the Public Service in accordance with the Minister's function under the Betting, Gaming, and Lotteries Act (BGLA), and recommends legislative amendments to the Act, Regulations, and Orders to ensure the industry's orderly development;

The Competent Authority in relation to ensuring that the gaming sector adheres to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT) provisions and reporting requirements of the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) and Terrorism Prevention Act (TPA).
