Application for Licence to operate Gaming Machine(s) on Prescribed Premises

Gaming Machine Operators must apply to the Commission for licences to operate any such machines using the Application Forms provided by the Commission. Completed Applications Forms must be submitted to the Commission along with receipts evidencing payments of the Annual Levy required by the Act.

For owners of internationally manufactured slot machines, an Annual Levy in the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000) per machine is due and payable by each operator to the Collector of Taxes on the 1st day of April each year.

For owners of locally made Gaming machines (also referred to as ‘ten cent’ machines) licensees pay an annual levy of Five Thousand dollars ($5,000) in respect of each machine.

Additionally, the payment of the following fees by the licencees must be made to the Commission: -

• A licence fee of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($2,500) in respect of each gaming machine specified in the licence, payable on the grant of a licence.
• A fee of Five Hundred Dollars ($500) to cover the provision by the Commission of an identification disc in respect of each gaming machine specified in the licence. .

Every Gaming Machine Licence granted by the Commission shall be valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of issue and may be renewed not less than twenty-one (21) days before expiration.

Owners or Operators of premises on which gaming machines are operated without licence, in default of the provisions of the Act will be liable to punishment by fine and/or imprisonment upon conviction.

Notice is hereby given that pursuant to the Betting Gaming and Lotteries (Amendment) Act, 2000 which came into effect 19th July, 2000, the Betting, Gaming & Lotteries Commission (the Commission) is the only Authority empowered to grant licences for and to regulate the operations of gaming machines in any prescribed premises in Jamaica.
